GET TO KNOW ME

  Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Maggie McDevitt and I am a senior at Jacksonville State University majoring in Mass Communications. My focus is Public Relations and my minor is Marketing. I am from McDonough, Georgia and I am 21 years old. 

My plans for after graduation are to move back to Georgia and work for a PR firm in Atlanta. I would like to be a part of a crisis management team that represents a verity of clients. 

Since social media has evolved into such an important aspect of every company there is huge demand for it right now. I hope to learn how to professionally manage multiple social media accounts as well as apply my personal creativity. I am also hoping to learn more about the analytical side of social media. My goal is to gain extensive knowledge to be able to keep up with trends on every social media platform. 

My long-term goal for this blog to hold myself acceptable for applying the information I learn to real life situations. I plan to keep a record of all the new things I learn throughout this semester on this blog to help myself and others in the future. 

Hopefully, I will be able to continue this blog and continue to share the knowledge I gain even after I graduate!

       For this weeks blog post I decided to create a photo story of what a day in the life of a college student during the pandemic looks like. FINDING MY NEW NORMAL

 Its is not question that the past year and a half have been some of the hardest times for most of us. The shock of a global pandemic did not come easy. Since March of 2020, COVID-19 had taken the reigns to out lives and each of us have been impacted by it in some way. As a population we have experienced almost a year long quarantine, a massive loss of jobs, unemployment rates sky rocketing, and a daily risk to out physical and mental health.  For me, COVID-19 took away some of what is supposed to be the best years of my life, and left me to pick up the pieces. I was a junior in college when the pandemic first hit and I was the happiest I had ever been. I was about to be 21, I a had good grades, great friends, and things were looking up.
